I don't know about you, but I'd rather be barefoot. Suits, office politics and that sensible 1pm lunch hour never really worked for me. I tried... I really did. I forced myself to conform to what was expected of me, only to find that I was unhappy.
So when I landed on an idea to start my own business, I jumped at it. And boy did I do it all wrong. I twisted myself into a pretzel trying to do what I thought I was meant to do.
And ultimately came back to a simple truth... I know the way, I just need to listen more deeply.
I've been working with women for about 20 years — coaching, thinking, building things, breaking things, starting over. And this blog is a new project. I've spend the past couple of years wiping the slate clean and thinking about what I wanted to share next.
Here's what I want you to know... you're allowed.
You're allowed to have the money, start the business, and feel fulfilled too.
You're allowed to ask questions, expect answers and feel more in command of your direction in life.
And you're allowed to make mistakes, then get up and try again.
The gap from where you are now to where you want to be isn't as big as you think it is either. I can tell you from personal experience, and from over 10,000 hours of coaching other women, that listening to our own intuition first and foremost solves all those barriers we perceive to be problems.
I've seen clients start businesses, come off anti-depressants, stop gambling, pay off debt, leave toxic relationships and more by making this one small shift in thinking... listening to their intuition first and foremost.
This blog is a very special project though...
Over the years I've heard this one question over and over again: But, where will the money come from?
Only it was never posed as a question, but as a statement that there was no money available to them. Where did was come at this idea that we couldn't, or weren't allowed, to find or make or receive the money?!
So, I started to teach something that I'd learned very early on... the very simply but very directly ask. Literally to ask: Ok Universe, so where will the money come from? Gimme some ideas...
And ideas showed up. I didn't always love the ideas. I was challenged by many of them. But they worked. And bit by bit, a business was built - one that is still alive todays, 20 years after I began this journey.
I want to teach you how to ask for the money and expect to receive it.
But let's be clear here:
This isn't about making millions. Or changing the world. Or becoming a best selling anything... It's about making a living doing something that fulfils you.
I noticed that women had pre-conceived ideas about what a business was meant to look like. We had these very patriarchal ideas about money and what it meant to run a business - that we'd lose on something like time with our families, or our sanity, and on top of that need to make millions.
I don't want to run a business life that, and you may not either! So, let's start to ask different questions, expect answers and begin to take part in our business ideas and vision for life in better ways.
Stick around!
